PoD: Jim Brown

I have an interesting job. Its not unlikely for me to be seen on two high school fields on Friday, end up on a D-I college field on Saturday and finish it off with a youth game on Sunday.

With this I've met some great kids and from time to time some football greats.

Yesterday was one of those days where I got to meet a football great.

Syracuse named the field yesterday the Ernie Davis Legends Field.

On hand was Syracuse alumni and Legend Jim Brown.

I grew up listening to stories about Jim Brown. He was my fathers favorite football player from Syracuse and the Cleveland Browns.

So to meet him and see him walk around was great even if the game wasn't. Then to finish off my day I headed back to Livingston County and caught a youth football game in Avon.

PoD: Flexin' Some Muscle

Another fun and rainy Friday night of football.

I ran over to Geneseo for the second half of the Blue Devils home game against Avon.

Those that know me know of my relationship with the team and my friendship with many of the coaches, players and parents of Avon.

So above is Avon running back and linebacker Richie Welch after his final play in the third quarter.

Avon pulled their starters and put in the second string as they where up 44-0.

Richie, like the other kids at Avon, is a good kid. I've watched him grow up over the years.

So here's to Avon and another muddy game.

PoD: Night Flag

I was at a girls soccer game last night in Pavilion and I noticed how they had a light on the flag.

I found it interesting how the flag would look as it flowed in the wind.

So I took time at the half to take some photo's of the flag trying to shoot using only the available light that was aimed at the flag figuring that the low shutter speed would give me a cool effect.

So here is one of my favorite frames from the sequence of shots I took.

PoD: Mud Ball

I have to apologize for my lack of post the past few weeks.

I've added so much to keep me busy that I've either haven't been around or just plain forgot.

This above was my Friday night game. It rained all week and pretty much all day Friday.

York's "new" field has poor drainage. The field is only about 5-7 years old and they've had this problem before....many, many times.

They thought about converting the surface to the new field turf. After Friday night I wish they would but the tax payers turned it down.

I think the photo above showes what a muddy mess the field becomes with a little rain.

PoD: Fire.......

Its been rather boring the last few days.

There has not been much going on since the weather has been bad.

So when people call people about a house on fire it gets some people rather fired up that maybe there is something big to cover.

Me, well I didn't hear a fire call or any talk on the scanner so I figured it wasn't much.

To my surprise it wasn't much. It was a controlled burn that caused all the phone calls and people getting excited.

Just another boring day at the office.
